Petals & Paint: A Day of Flowers and Art

24th May 10am - 3pm

At Blue Hill Flora, Brynglas farm, Pontardawe, SA84TR

Slow down, observe, and immerse yourself in a creative retreat designed to help you reconnect with nature. This full-day experience blends the beauty of floral arranging with the art of mindful observation through painting.

The Morning: Flowers & Arranging with Rhiannon Harris of Blue Hill Flora
We’ll start the day with a gentle tour of the flower farm, soaking in the colours, scents, and textures of the season. Then, I’ll guide you through a vase arranging demo, sharing tips on how to create a balanced, natural-looking design. Please bring your own vase—ideally one you struggle to use so I can give you all the tips to get a beautiful arrangement every time—before heading into the field to cut your own flowers and create a unique arrangement to take home.

Lunch: A Seasonal Feast
After a morning of creativity, we’ll pause to enjoy a delicious graze table filled with locally sourced produce and homemade treats—a moment to relax, chat, and soak up the peaceful surroundings.

The Afternoon: Painting with Rhiannon Collins
In the afternoon, artist Rhiannon Collins will guide you through a painting session focused on observation—capturing the colour, form, and essence of your floral arrangement. Whether you’re new to painting or already have experience, this session is about slowing down, truly seeing the beauty in front of you, and translating it onto paper in your own unique way.

This is a day to step away from the busyness of life, reconnect with the natural world, and explore creativity in a relaxed and supportive space. You’ll leave with a stunning floral arrangement, your own painted interpretation of it, and a deep sense of calm and inspiration.

Spaces are limited to ten

Cancellation Policy

Our workshops are non-refundable, but if you can’t make it, you’re welcome to send someone in your place. We kindly ask that you don’t come to the farm if you’re feeling unwell. If illness means you need to cancel, we’ll happily transfer your booking to the next workshop with available spaces or we will arrange to deliver a bouquet or wreath to you in lieu.

Please note, the farm is a working environment with uneven ground, so we recommend wearing sturdy footwear like trainers, boots, or wellies if it’s looking rainy.

Workshops go ahead in most weather, but we may need to postpone or cancel in extreme conditions like snow or torrential rain. Safety and comfort always come first!
